We would recommend the MityMic for recording music, it will work with Skype too, but the person on the other end will need to be heard through the onboard iPod Touch Speaker instead of any headset (since this is where the MityMic plugs in). We would recommend Voxie or HT Recorder for recording apps.
Yes all our mics work on iPod 2G and 3G. All Gig size versions (8,32,64).
Does the “TouchMic MityMic” microphone work with the 4th Generation Ipod Nano?
Hi, yes the MityMic will work on the new nanos!
my question is What if i bought an item but want to return it , is that possible?
I’m very impressed by the mitymic recording quality. However, I can hear an annoying periodic noise with my ipod touch 2nd generation when Wifi is ON while recording.
If it’s happening to you, turning Wifi off during record solve it 🙂
Is this product compatible with the ipad? Does it improve over the built in microphone?
Hello, I have a 1g Ipod Touch running OS 3.0. I have installed Skype as I will be travelling abroad in the near future, and I do not want to pay outrageous fees for calling back to the U.S. However, because the Ipod Touch does not have a microphone, I am desperately in need of one. I have read that the IVoiceIII Pro works with software 2.2.1, but I have upgraded. Please point me in the right direction.
I’d like to use this with an iPad in my car. I am currently using a dual purpose dock cable with a USB connection for charging and another connection for audio input to my stereo.
I saw the comment about the mic disabling the internal speaker but do you know if audio out from the dock will still be active if the MityMic is connected? I’d like to use it to improve VOIP calls.
I have a 2nd generation iTouch 8GB with iOS4. Elsewhere I purchased a headset with a mic and it does not work. Is there a mic you provide that will work for me?
If you have little volume buttons along the left hand side of your Touch then it is 2nd Gen (or 3rd) and all headset/mic combos should work, as well as all of the products we have for sale here at TouchMic.com. If you need further answers please just email us at Support@TouchMic.com.
The Audio out should still be active if it is coming from the Dock.
Unfortunately at this point you would need to revert back to 2.2.1 (which we no longer recommend as you would lose the ability to run many modern apps). We would advise to purchase a used iPod Touch or wait until the next gen iPod comes out.
The MityMic will work with iPad and it will improve the quality of the built in mic in terms of blocking out ambient noise and only recording in the direction you point the mic into, as it is a unidirectional mic as opposed to the “catch-all” omni built in mic.
Thanks for your comment. Yes, you must turn off WiFi to get the best possible recording quality and to minimize any interference.
Of course. Just have a look at our Guarantee Page and Terms. We are more than happy to do returns an exchanges and have a no hassle 30-day money back guarantee!
What mic would you recommend for use with the Glee singing app, Shazam and Skype on a 3G iPod touch? Thanks!
Hi. I have an iPod Touch 2G and recently upgraded the OS. Does the MittyMic work on all such upgrades? Also, does the microphone work on non-Apple products (e.g. a Kodak digital camcorder)? Thanks.
Hi, I am currently using iPod Touch 1g with firmware version of 3.1.3. Will I be able to use skype with Macally iVoice III or Macally iVoice Pro? In addition, since I see that those products are now sold out, is there any way I can get it elsewhere or be shipped to my place? I live in California.
1) Does the Mity Mic work well on an iPod Touch 3G (32 gig) with iOS 4 installed?
2) What is the format (wav, mp3, etc.) of the recorded files (I expect to be recording bagpipe music)?
3) How are these files transferred to a computer?
Thanks in advance. I like what I’ve learned so far.
Our Lapel Mic would be your best choice.
The MityMic will work with the upgraded OS on both 2nd and 3rd Gen Touches. It will likely not work with the Kodak camcorder.
You can try Amazon or Ebay to see if you can track down an iVoice Mic. If you look a couple of posts down, another poster outlined how he gets his iVoice III to work with 1G touch.
1.) Yes MityMic works with all versions of iPod Touch aside from 1G, and all OS.
2.) The format output will depend on the recording app you use (there are many). Often you get .aiff or .wav output.
3.) Again this is a fuction of the app you are using, but most have a way to log in to your Touch through a local network via IP address, then you just download the files you need.
Hope that helped!
Will it work with the new multitouch iPod NANO (announced today)? I’m depending on this to get the new little bastard. Thanks.
Hi – yes our ipod nano microphone (all of our mics) are fully compatible with the new Touch iPod Nano.
Is the MityMic compatible with the iPod Touch, 4th Gen (wondering whether the “all” in your July 30 response still holds 🙂 ) — and what recording software would you suggest for iOS4.1? Thanks!
The MityMic is compatible with iPod Touch 4, thanks for your post!
I have a good quality Sony handsfree microphone I would like to use with my Ipod Touch 4th generation to record teachers I study for my thesis. Would the 3rd party mic adapter work for that purpose?
What is the best mic for recording voice with an acoustic guitar on my iPod Touch?
Hi Philip, the MityMic would be a good choice!
Yes, the 3rd Party Mic adapter would be ideal for this purpose!
Hello there. Does the mityMic work with the iPad?
Hi Steve, thanks for your post. Yes Mitymic will work with iPad!
My son has an itouch 3G and already has headphones. He seems to think if he gets a microphone, he will be able to use this as a phone through our home phone number. Can you tell me if this is true and what microphone will work to do this?
Hi Sally – your son is correct in that he can use the iPod Touch via the internet/wi-fi connection as a phone. This would be accomplished via Skype and/or many of the other voice over IP apps that are available. In short, as long as you have a WiFi connection it could be used as a phone. Regarding on whether it’s through your own home phone number, there could be an additional associated charge with that and phone # forwarding of some sort would likely be used if you were set on using your home number. Any of our headsets with integrated mic or our lapel mic and adapter would be useful for using the iPod Touch as a phone.
do you have a store i can visit or do you have to buy it over the internet?
Hi, unfortunately we do not have retail outlets at this time. However some of our products are soon to be carried in retail stores throughout the U.S.
I am interested in the the TouchMic Handsfree Lapel for my iPod Touch 2nd Gen, running 4.2.1. Do you guarantee that the product will work as a microphone for VOiP?
Hi Samuel – the TouchMic Lapel Mic will work with all VOIP apps on iPod Touch 2nd Gen and above!
The 3rd Party Mic adapter cable would probably be your best bet:
You would just need to use a regular extension cable that can be found at any local electronics store (with the 2-ring jacks on the end) and plug one end into the adapter opening and one end into your dictation unit.
Email us at Support@TouchMic.com if you have other questions.
Does the MityMic work with video recording on the 4th generation iPod Touch?
Hi Dwight – yes it will work with vid recording. Thanks!
Hello, what apps or software would be needed to use the MityMic on an iPad 2 to record audio interviews in a room? Thanks.
All you need is pretty much any recording app. However MItyMic works really well with “HT Recorder” and “Voxie”. The HT Recorder App is superb in that it lets you control the mic gain (you have settings for large room, small room, close recording, ect..).
If you have more detailed questions just drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Does the “iPhone/iPod/iPad Mic Extension Cable” work with the iphone 4/4s standard headset, allowing the speakers, MIC, and control buttons to operate correctly?
Thanks for your post. Yes, all of the functionality will remain with the cable (speaker, mic, control buttons will all work!)
My iPad 2 internal microphone seems to be flawed. On my recordings I hear only noise and voice in very low volume. For a certain reason I can’t return iPad 2 back (I bought it in the US and live far abroad and there’s no Apple stores somewhere near).
I would like to obtain an external microphone to fully replace the functionality of iPad 2 internal mic. MityMic looks to me like an ideal solution. I would like to be able to use Skype, make recordings and do whatever I wish with the mic the same way as I would do it with internal mic. As far as I get MityMic can do this all but I would like to get a confirmation from the TouchMic staff.
Thanks for your post. Yes, MityMic will enable you to make calls via Skype (you just need to toggle the “speaker” option during a call”) and also make any sort of recordings that you would have used the internal mic for. You will likely also get better quality recordings.
Hi Tony, all of our products will work with iPad 3. Thanks!
